ST. HELENA, California (February 9, 2021) – Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu Racing (RAR) are pleased to announce that Derek Snyder of Self Made Racing and Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC will return to the RAR No. 24 as a prime partner in 2021. Snyder’s involvement with Rico Abreu Racing extends three seasons, accomplishing six victories during their most recent campaign including a $10,000 All Star Circuit of Champions score at Attica Raceway Park.
Snyder, owner and founder of Self Made Racing, as well as the executive manager and partner of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC in Boardman, Ohio, boasts a long and dedicated history in open wheel competition. In addition to Rico Abreu Racing, Snyder is a major partner and supporter of Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing, as well as the promoter of the annual Justin Snyder’s Salute to the Troops, honoring Derek’s late brother. The event, scheduled for Sunday, July 11, will be conducted at Sharon Speedway and will once again feature Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions.
“I couldn’t be more excited to extend my relationship with Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu Racing,” Derek Snyder said. “Rico is a great ambassador to the sport of sprint car racing and he does everything he can to promote his partners at the highest level. We have some fun things in the works again this season. Last year, I was fortunate enough to have Rico and Danny Dietrich visit our Sweeney location for a meet and greet. We want to do that again in 2021. I’m excited for another great year.”
Although Abreu’s current focus is on the Works Limited 57 sprint car, the St. Helena, California-native will return to the driver’s seat of his own RAR No. 24 in April commencing a traditional “true outlaw” schedule through the midwest and northeast.

To fly the Self Made Racing colors is pretty special and I’m excited for the opportunity to do it again in 2021,” Rico Abreu added. “We have a lot in store for the coming year.
