ST. HELENA, Calif. (November 7, 2022) – The 2022 season has officially come to a close for St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing, and despite the last few weeks of the schedule taking the Rowdy Energy No. 24 team from coast-to-coast, visiting Tulare, California’s Thunderbowl Raceway on October 20-22 before making the trek to The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina, on November 2-5, Abreu was on point, ending his season’s campaign with a pair of top-ten performances with The Greatest Show On Dirt.
Abreu, ace of the Abreu Vineyards, Rowdy Energy, Curb Records, Stadelhofer Construction, Wiser Agency, Tony Toste Construction, Lucas Oil Products, ShopRico.com, Salty’s BBQ, No. 24 sprint car, kicked-off the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season-ending World Finals with a fourth-place score on Wednesday, November 2, and despite an unfortunate DNF outcome on Friday, November 4, scored 22nd after starting 12th on the A-Main grid, Abreu went on to conclude the World Finals with a sixth-place run in the $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday, November 5. The impressive stat burst propelled Abreu to 19 World of Outlaws top-ten finishes on the season, eight of which accumulated within the top-five including a victory at Eldora Speedway.
Other recent highlights include a runner-up performance in Thunderbowl Raceway’s Trophy Cup finale on Saturday, October 22. The former Trophy Cup champion started ninth on the evening grid, determined by points accumulated over the three-day program.
Abreu’s season will end with 69 starts. The Californian acquired 39 top-tens overall, padded by 21 top-fives and six wins, most recently sweeping a NARC doubleheader at Keller Auto Speedway and Thunderbowl Raceway on October 14-15.
“It was a great way to end a great season, and I couldn’t be more proud of this Rowdy Energy team. Ricky Warner has been an asset to this team. We’re already looking ahead to 2023,” stated Abreu. “The last few weeks required a lot of travel, but my guys never faltered. They continued to believe in me and believe in themselves. That’s what it takes to be successful. I’m excited to see what the future brings.”
