ST. HELENA, Calif. (June 1, 2021) – Despite a sporadic schedule with a lot of miles in between, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing persevered and put together a sound Memorial Day weekend campaign, first registering a top-five result at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 29, then making the near-15 hour tow to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, where the St. Helena, California-native finished seventh in the $29,000-to-win Bob Weikert Memorial on Monday, May 31.

A much needed test and tune session for upcoming appearances with the Greatest Show On Dirt, including the coveted Knoxville Nationals, Abreu’s trip to Knoxville Raceway ended fifth in the running order, eventually climbing ahead four spots from ninth on the grid.

Port Royal Speedway’s Bob Weikert Memorial, featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, utilized a passing points system and redraw to set the evening’s feature lineup rather than the All Stars’ traditional dash format. A third place finish during heat race action propelled Abreu’s point total to the top-ten overall, which automatically qualified Abreu for the feature redraw; Abreu went on to start ninth.

“We put on some miles this weekend, but that’s what it’s all about. We love every minute of it,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Curb Records/Rowdy Energy/Lucas Oil Products/The Wiser Agency/Self Made/Salty’s BBQ/No. 24 sprint car. “We intended on racing all weekend with the All Stars, but with the weather playing a factor, we decided to hang back and turn some laps at Knoxville instead. I was happy to make it to Port Royal in time for the Weikert. The fans in Pennsylvania are second to none and we love being there. I can’t wait to get back.”

Tentatively, Rico Abreu will continue his 2021 campaign with a full slate of All Star Circuit of Champions competition, kicking-off the extended, upcoming weekend with a visit to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, on Thursday, June 3. Action will continue with a Wisconsin tripleheader at Wilmot Raceway, Plymouth Dirt Track, and Angell Park Speedway on Friday through Sunday, June 4-6.
