Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series Releases 2013 Schedule of Events!

(November 30, 2012) Officials from the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series are excited to release their schedule dates for the 2013 racing season. Series founder and promoter Ray Cook has booked the same ten tracks that were on the series slate last season, but the order in which they appear on the schedule has differed somewhat in an effort to further reduce travel. The 9th Annual Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series will kick off on Monday, July 15 with a trip to the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia and will conclude on Saturday, July 27 at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee. Those two venues have been the bookends of each Southern Nationals tour since 2006.

The first week of the ten race mini-series will take the cars and stars to the Wythe (VA) Raceway, Volunteer (TN) Speedway, East Alabama Motor Speedway, Swainsboro (GA) Raceway, and Screven (GA) Motor Speedway. The second and final week of the 2013 tour will host events at the Rome (GA) Speedway, North Georgia Speedway, Cleveland (TN) Speedway, Smoky Mountain (TN) Speedway, and Tazewell (TN) Speedway. As in past years, half of the races will pay $5,300 to win, while the other five shows will pay $3,500 to the winner.

“We are thrilled with the way our 2013 schedule looks and coming off a very good two weeks last year, I can’t wait for July to get here,” exclaimed Cook today via telephone. “I think it says a lot about our shows that all ten racetracks were retained from last year. We are tickled to be heading back to each of those tracks and with the way the travel schedule shakes out, it should be a lot less miles for both the race teams and the fans. With the fine folks of Schaeffer Oil back on board with us again, it should be another great year in 2013!”
