2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Fifth | 7,348 points [208 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 6, 2022) – For Donny Schatz, consistency stretches coast-to-coast, and the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion certainly proved that statistic over the recent weekend, ultimately capping his four-race campaign through Washington with four straight top-ten scores, highlighting his streak with a podium run in the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals opener at Skagit Speedway in Burlington, Washington, on Thursday, September 1.

Schatz finished third in his podium appearance, following it up with seventh and eighth-place scores on Friday and Saturday, September 2-3, respectively, each the result of forward progress. The Fargo, North Dakota, native advanced a personal Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals high of four positions in the $26,000-to-win finale.

Forced to battle with Roth Motorsports’ James McFadden in his podium pursuit, Schatz actually lost third to the Australia native before gaining the position back at McFadden’s misfortune; contact with a lapped car was the culprit.

“I know I got to see a pretty good race unfold right in front of me,” Schatz noted of his Skagit opening night performance. “I tried to gather it up and get in there to battle with those guys, but we just didn’t have it tonight. We’ll work on it and try to be better.”

Although unable to match his podium outcome from Skagit, Schatz eventually capped his Labor Day weekend schedule with a fifth-place result at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington, on Monday, September 5, the result of a hard-fought rally from row six. Schatz battled as far forward as fourth before losing a position to Kasey Kahne Racing’s Brad Sweet.
