BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 5, 2021) – Consistency is key in World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition, and that is exactly what ten-time Series champion, Donny Schatz, perfected during the recent weekend, capping Cedar Lake Speedway’s Independence Day Spectacular with back-to-back top-ten finishes, also acquiring a pair of heat race victories, as well as a pair of dash appearances. The Fargo, North Dakota-native has withstood his fair share of bad luck in 2021, but with big money and prestige on the line over the next several weeks – Brad Doty Classic, Kings Royal, Silver Cup, and Summer Nationals – the time to master consistency is now.
Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, finished seventh in each of his weekend starts at Cedar Lake, commencing each of the $10,000-to-win main events from the outside of row three. Schatz’ Cedar Lake results kept the ten-time champ sixth in the overall World of Outlaws championship chase, trailing point leader and 12-time winner, Brad Sweet, by 230 markers. The 2021 stat sheet also includes 28 top-ten appearances in 40 Series starts.
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 World of Outlaws campaign with a trip to Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin, on Saturday, July 10, all before turning their attention back to the Buckeye State the following week. The Greatest Show On Dirt will invade Attica Raceway Park for the annual Brad Doty Classic on Tuesday, July 13, next setting aim on four straight nights at Eldora Speedway featuring a pair of $175,000-to-win Kings Royals. Schatz is a five-time Kings Royal champion, last earning the crown, robe, and scepter in 2018.
