Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will welcome 13-year old country music singer, songwriter and recording artist Kirsten Sowers this Saturday, May 4 on Little League and Softball Team Uniform Night at the track.

Youth ages 12 and under who come to the races in full uniform will be treated to several special events during the night including a concert by Sowers behind the grandstand.

The racing program will consist of 410 sprints, late models and ARDC Midgets.  It will be the first of three appearances by the midgets at the track this season.

For the young ball players who come to the event in full dress for a night at the races, a number of special privileges are in store.

First off, for those 12-year olds who are in uniform a free admission ticket will be granted.

But for all the dressed up ball players a free fountain soda will be afforded and a guided tour of the pits will be given so the kids can get up close and personal with the race teams and cars and maybe even meet some drivers.

The players will also be granted the privilege of watching warm-ups from a perch inside the former scoring tower in the infield adjacent to the stage.

Afterwards, a group photo will be taken of all the players on the stage.

Up to eight lucky ball players will be invited to help drop a green flag on the night’s qualifying heat races and a t-shirt toss from the stage into groups of players will take place during the night.

Finally, any of the uniformed youth who wish to join in victory lane photos with the main event winners will be invited to victory lane.

Sowers, an 8th grader at Wissahickon Middle School in Ambler, has performed at over 145 events from Nashville to Los Angeles.

Martin Guitars has even described her as an “Emerging Force” in the country music world.
