BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 27, 2018) – Wrapping up a busy September schedule for the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Tony Stewart will return to the driver seat of his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car and join the best-of-the-best of the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series for the Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships.
Headlining action at the Plymouth Dirt Track on September 28 & 29, the two-day Wisconsin Sprint Car Championship will award a massive winner’s share equaling $9,000; $3,000 on Friday and $6,000 on Saturday. Stewart is certainly no stranger to IRA competition and will enter the weekend with a pair of top-five finishes in five feature starts, one of which an edged-out at the line, second place finish to Bill Balog on September 1.
“We are excited to get back to Plymouth Dirt Track,” Tony Stewart explained, a recent podium finish with the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series. “We enjoy racing with the IRA Sprint Series. This is an historic weekend for the Series, as well as the track. It’s a privilege to be a part of it.”
Smoke will enter the Wisconsin Sprint Car Championship fresh off of a strong performance during IRA action at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., on Sunday, September 23. Bettering all but two of the 35 competitors signed-in for the Bill Waite Memorial program, Stewart ended his night third on the A-main podium, a feat that started on the outside of row four. The Columbus, Ind., native kicked off the evening with a heat race victory.
“Jimmy and Marty did a great job on Sunday night at LaSalle. It really makes the racing a lot more fun when you’re in a car that you are comfortable with and have the ability to move around,” Stewart continued. “We’ve had our fair share of up and down moments this season. Hopefully we can keep a solid rhythm going this weekend in Wisconsin.”
