Sodeman Completes Western PA Sweep: Earns Track Titles at Lernerville and Mercer Raceway Park
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (August 29, 2016) – Jack Sodeman, Jr. launched his 2016 campaign with the intent to bypass any plans to hunt for track championships – the results worked out differently.
Sodeman, pilot of the familiar Glassmere Fuel, Economy Tooling, PRS Transit, Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc., Butlerbuilt, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Simpson Race Products, Triple X Race Components, No. 23JR entry, nearly dominated Western Pennsylvania 410 sprint car competition 2016, earning a total of nine main event victories between Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park, ultimately earning track championships at both facilities. The North Jackson, Ohio, native scored six victories during his 2016 season at Mercer Raceway Park, including one during the last night of points competition on Saturday, August 27. It was his third Mercer title in four years.
Sodeman’s Lernerville Speedway campaign ended with three main event victories, officially clinching his first ever title at the Sarver, Pennsylvania, oval with a fifth place performance during the final night of championship points on Friday, August 26. Jack Sodeman, Jr. now joins his father on the all-time track championship list.
“Just ‘wow.’ Not exactly sure what to say right now,” Sodeman explained. “This really wasn’t our plan. We intended to just ‘hit and miss’ whatever we wanted this year, but the results kinda took over. We couldn’t ignore the position we were in, so we decided to alter our plans and hunt for track championships. Everything couldn’t have worked out any better. I’m really proud of my team. With my work schedule, it’s almost impossible for me to get to the shop during the week. My crew kept me prepared and kept me on track to earn these championships. I couldn’t be anymore proud.”
With the pressure of points racing complete, Sodeman, Jr. will return to a “true outlaw” style schedule, first aiming focus toward 410 sprint car competition at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 3, worth $2,000.
“I can’t thank my family and crew enough for their support this season,” Sodeman said. “We have a long list of dedicated sponsors who also helped make this season come to life. I’m proud of the position that we are in. This is really exciting.”
