N. Jackson -6/14/12] One of the season’s most anticipated Western Pennsylvania ‘410’ sprint car event will take shape this weekend in Mercer County. The annual ‘Auto Racers For Kids Sprint Car Shoot Out’ charity race, featuring a $3,000-to-win, 30 lap contest for the ‘410’ sprinters, will take place this Saturday night, June 16, at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Jack Sodeman Jr., a North Jackson, Ohio native and former winner of the ‘Auto Racers For Kids’ charity event, will be in action this weekend at the Mercer oval; looking to park his Glassmere Fuel Service ’23Jr’ in victory lane for the first time this season at ‘The Park.’

“This is a great event and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it” explained Sodeman about the upcoming charity race at Mercer, “This is great for us as a team because we won this deal before, and it is just a great event in general.”

Sodeman spends the majority of his weekends racing in Western Pennsylvania; participating in weekly events at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, and Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The 2010 ‘Auto Racers For Kids’ charity event winner sits 8th in the current Lernerville Speedway ‘410’ standings, while holding on to the 10th spot in the current Mercer Raceway Park ‘410’ standings. The second generation driver owns one win so far in 2012, and has earned multiple top five finishes. The former Sharon Speedway track champion found victory lane at Lenerville Speedway back on May 25, and has only finished outside of the top five once during his nine starts so far in the 2012 season.

Before making his Saturday night appearance at Mercer Raceway Park’s third charity event, Sodeman will compete in ‘410’  sprint car action at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania tomorrow night, June 15th. In most recent competition, the 35-year-old driver finished 5th at Lernerville Speedway last Friday night, June 8th, and wrapped up the weekend with a runner-up finish at Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, June 9th.

“They don’t just give good finishes away at these big shows” said Sodeman Jr. “We will need to be ready!”
