2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Eighth | 6292 points [396 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

CARLISLE, Pa. (August 22, 2022) – The ability to rebound after a tough outing is the name of the game in sprint car competition, and that is exactly what CJB Motorsports and Spencer Bayston did, eventually capping the Mother Nature-induced Jackson Nationals doubleheader on Saturday afternoon and evening with a top-five performance in the weekend finale, bettering their DNF result from the preliminary main event.
Bayston, driver of Chad Clemens’ CJB Motorsports, TrueTimber, Signing Day Sports, Bubbly Brands, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished fifth in the $25,000-to-win Jackson Nationals headliner, battling ahead two spots after starting from the inside of row four. The outcome, Bayston’s 14th top-five of the current World of Outlaws season, allowed the Lebanon, Indiana, native to remain eighth in the Series’ championship standings.
The annual Jackson Nationals, originally scheduled to be a three-day affair on August 18-20, was downsized to a doubleheader on Saturday as the result of persistent rains.
Bayston’s DNF in the preliminary feature was the result of contact; work area repairs could not be completed in a timely manner.
“The afternoon portion of the Jackson Nationals is an event you just have to shake your head at and be glad it’s over…just one of those days where things never fall your way. But, to come back with a top-five in the finale is certainly a win in our book,” Bayston said. “Hats off to this entire team. They never gave up and we were able to rebound for a big result. We have some repacking to do before we head west, but I’m excited to move this momentum into River Cities.”
