2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 13th | 606 points [108 points behind championship leader, David Gravel]

CARLISLE, Pa. (March 7, 2022) – For the first time this season, Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports clawed their way to a top-ten finish with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, doing so in Cotton Bowl Speedway’s Texas Two-Step opener on Friday night, March 4. On what proved to be a tricky surface riddled with a thin outer edge, a thin bottom lane, and a slick middle groove, Bayston persevered and ultimately translated a ninth-place starting position into a ninth-place finish, following Jacob Allen and David Gravel to the final checkers.

Adding to their top-ten headline, Bayston and CJB Motorsports qualified sixth overall out of 29 entries, racing on to finish third in their respective heat race. Despite not making the dash, finishing third in his particular heat put the Lebanon, Indiana, native on the inside of row five for the main event.

“I felt like a lot of progress was made yet again this weekend. Racing with the Outlaws doesn’t allow for any mistakes or hiccups which is something that is extremely important in my progression this year,” Spencer Bayston noted, who earned an Outlaw win with CJB Motorsports at Port Royal Speedway. “Our goal each night is to put ourselves into a position to make the dash. These next few weeks are going to be tough, but that is my main goal going into California.”

Although unable to match his top-ten outcome from Friday, Bayston’s Texas Two-Step finale performance on Saturday was nearly as impressive, eventually powering ahead four spots from 15th to finish 11th in 30 circuits. The 2022 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender is now 13th in the Series driver championship standings with 108 markers separating himself from points leader David Gravel.

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a two-day visit to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California, on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12. The Thunderbowl invasion will kick-off a six-race California swing stretching through Saturday, March 26.

Not done with Texas just yet, the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender will return to the Lone Star State in approximately one month for Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s Texas Outlaw Nationals on Saturday, April 2.
