Stambaugh earns pair of NRA top-ten finishes over Memorial Day weekend

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

ELIDA, Ohio (May 29, 2018) – Although stepping back from 410c.i. sprint car competition momentarily to allow for necessary motor repair, “Mad Max” Stambaugh has been plenty busy, now turning his focus toward NRA Sprint Invaders competition in northwest Ohio. Stambaugh, a two-time NRA Sprint Invaders championship runner-up before transitioning into 410c.i. competition nearly full-time, earned a pair of top-ten finishes with the 360c.i. Series over Memorial Day weekend, almost winning the Open Wheel Shootout at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, May 26.

Stambaugh, driver of the Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Triple JJJ/Dale’s Concrete/Fully Injected Motorsports/Specialized Therapy/No. 5M sprint car, kicked-off his long, holiday weekend with a fifth place performance at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, May 25. Stambaugh started tenth on the feature grid, earning a main event starting position after finishing fourth during his respective heat race.

While battling for the top spot at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, Stambaugh made contact with Jake Brown, ultimately resulting in a flat tire for Stambaugh. “Mad Max” was able to return to the speedway with 11 laps remaining and recover for a top-ten finish, crossing under the final checkers seventh in the running order. Stambaugh started the evening’s main event from the pole position.

“Kinda disappointed with what happened at Fremont, but it is what it is,” Max Stambaugh expressed about his Fremont results. “I think if we wouldn’t have touched, that race would have been ours. At least we were right there. Hopefully we can get back to 410c.i. racing pretty soon. For now, we’ll focus on the NRA stuff. It’s fun and it keeps us racing. That’s all that matters right now.”

Max Stambaugh will return to competition soon, but exact plans are unsure. More updates will be posted on social media as the week continues.
