Stambaugh will visit I-96 and Eldora during weekend doubleheader
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, Ohio (September 18, 2018) – After a Canadian Sprint Car Nationals campaign that nearly ended in triumph, actually battling well within the top-ten before being forced to retire due to an on-track incident, ‘Mad Max’ Stambaugh will try again this Friday and Saturday with a doubleheader in the Midwest, this time visiting I-96 Speedway and Eldora Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 21 & 22, respectively.
Driving the Jared Horstman-owned No. 17 entry, Max Stambaugh was scored 19th during the $10,000-to-win, Canadian Sprint Car National finale on September 15; he did not finish.
“It was a great experience at Ohsweken. We were right there, but it didn’t work out. Regardless, I can’t thank Jared Horstman enough for the opportunity to compete in the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. Hopefully we can make that trip every year,” Max Stambaugh explained. “We switch gears a little bit this weekend. I’m excited to hook back up with Shannon Eifert for another start in Michigan. We were good at Butler Speedway and I’m confident we’ll be just as good at I-96.”
Reuniting with Michigan-based car owner Shannon Eifert, Stambaugh will pilot the Home Pro Roofing-backed No. 5 during his first start of the upcoming weekend. The winning duo, proven victorious at Butler Motor Speedway on September 8, will kick-off the weekend with a Sprints On Dirt (SOD) event at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan, on Friday, September 21. Although Stambaugh has yet to earn a SOD victory in 2018, the Elida, Ohio, native has grown comfortable with the Wolverine State, earning a win at Crystal Motor Speedway in addition to his triumph at Butler.
Once action at I-96 is complete, Stambaugh will switch cars, as well as states, and return to the Buckeye State where the former All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year will rejoin America’s Series for the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on Saturday, September 22. Piloting his own No. 5M for the All Star blockbuster, Stambaugh will enter the weekend with six All Star starts to his credit thus far in 2018, two of which resulting in top-ten finishes.
“I’m always ready to get back to Eldora Speedway,” Stambaugh continued. “It’s where everyone wants to be.”
