Steel City Stampede Flashback – Cole Duncan pulls off major upset of Ed Lynch Jr.

Sarver, PA (Tuesday, April 9, 2013) On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in October, 2009, Cole Duncan stole the show at the Inaugural DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede by stealing a win away from All Time Sprint Car feature winner Ed Lynch Jr. on a green-white-checkers restart.  Lynch started on the outside pole and appeared to be on his way to a wire-to-wire victory until a late race caution opened the door for Duncan who found a patch of moisture through the middle of turns three & four and the traction allowed him to drive past Lynch on the restart as a stunned crowd rose to its feet.  Duncan then slid through turns one & two and took away Lynch’s line exiting turn two.  With the super slick track conditions of the breezy Sunday afternoon, Lynch could not regain the lead and had to follow the second generation driver, (Cole being the son of Ohio star Rodney Duncan), to the checkered flag.

This Sunday’s DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede Sprint feature is scheduled to have a starting front row of former Track Champions and current All Stars Dale Blaney and Danny Holtgraver.  Blaney has won the past two Steel City Stampede Sprint features, as well as the final Sprint Car race at Lernerville in 2012 against the World of Outlaws at September’s Commonwealth Clash.  Holtgraver won the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint feature earlier in September of 2012.

The Ti22 Sprints will be under Peoples TWP sponsorship in 2013 and will be back on Hoosier Racing Tires after a three year stint Goodyear.  The Lernerville Speedway would like to thank Ti22 Performance and Goodyear Racing Tires for their support of the DIRTcar Sprints the past few seasons and greatly looks forward to new beginnings with the fine folks from Peoples TWP and Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic!
