BUTLER, Pa. (February 12, 2024) – For much of the short track world, February means a trip to the Sunshine State, and for Butler, Pennsylvania’s Cullen Hutchison, his February campaign followed along the exact same path, ultimately participating in seven programs over a nine-day span, all of which activating with a two-day invasion of Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston, Florida, on Friday and Saturday, February 2-3.

Dubbed the Winter Heat, Hutchison, ace of the BKR, Classic Ink USA Screenprinting & Embroidery, E2 Apparel, Open Joist, No. 21 600cc micro, finished fifth and third in the non-wing doubleheader, making forward progress – six total positions – in each of the aforementioned starts. Adding some flair to his weekend stat chart, the Hendry County visit was a first-ever for Hutchison, officially adding Florida to his recent travel log that already includes Oklahoma and North Carolina.

After an off day on Sunday, February 4, Hutchison’s winter road trip sent him from Clewiston to Ocala, geared up to take on the NOW600 restricted class in the five-race Florida Micro Funfest at Marion County Speedway on February 5-10. Five races (separated by an off day on Wednesday) resulted in five-straight top-ten outcomes for the Western Pennsylvania youngster, highlighting the week-long agenda with a third-place finish on Friday, February 9. In addition, Hutchison finished sixth on February 5 and February 6, fourth on February 8, and seventh in the $1,000-to-win finale on Saturday, February 10.

Unfortunately, Hutchison’s final result was statistically his worst, but an opening lap “nowhere-to-go” incident forced the pilot of the BKR No. 21 to the back of the running order; he eventually recovered to finish just outside of the top five.

“In all, it was a great trip for our team and I’m proud of our accomplishments. I think we were much better than where we finished the final night, but getting tangled up on the first lap really hurt us. To recover as well as we did says a lot,” Hutchison explained. “Can’t say enough about Brian and everyone else at BKR. We’ve put on a lot of miles these last few months, but it’s been a great experience. Not sure what’s next, but we’ll have a plan figured out soon.”
