T.J. Michael Will Continue Arctic Cat All Star Rookie Campaign with Visits to Port Royal & Selinsgrove
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
FREMONT, Ohio (April 19, 2016) – After kicking-off the 2016 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions point season with three consecutive events in Ohio and Pennsylvania, highlighted with an MSD Performance Hard Charger Award after advancing seven positions on Sunday night, April 17, the “Texas Traveler” T.J. Michael will move forward and begin preparations for his return to “Pennsylvania Posse Country” with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions this Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24. Michael, a rookie on the 2016 All Star trail, currently finds himself sixth in the updated Arctic Cat All Star standings, finishing 11th, 12th and 13th during his first three starts of the point championship season.
“I’ve only ever raced in Pennsylvania twice, including this past weekend” said T.J. Michael. “You hear a lot of stories about the ‘Pennsylvania Posse’ and how competitive they are. My team and I are pretty excited to get to experience that hype and atmosphere this weekend. We had a little taste of ‘Posse Country’ this past weekend at Bedford, but I’m sure the feeling will double when we get to Port Royal on Saturday. The season is off to a great start for us. We are improving every day. I’m ready to get back at it!”
T.J. Michael and the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will begin their upcoming weekend travels on Saturday night, April 23, with a visit to the Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. The inaugural Keith Kauffman Classic will highlight competition at the “Speed Palace,” awarding a $5,000 top prize. Action will resume on Sunday evening, April 24, at the Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania; the first visit by the Arctic Cat All Stars in 16 years. The Ray Tilley Classic will headline action, awarding the weekend’s second $5,000 top prize. Each of the weekend’s half-mile destinations will be foreign to T.J. Michael; never visiting Port Royal Speedway nor Selinsgrove Speedway once during his travels.
“Getting the opportunity to visit new tracks is one of the most exciting parts of this deal,” explained T.J. Michael. “Before these last two weeks, I didn’t have many starts on half-mile race tracks, now I’ll have three starts in two weekends. We’ve been racing really well; super consistent and passing race cars. The season is long, but it’s ok to be excited about our performances. We’ll work to keep it going in the right direction this weekend.”
The “Texas Traveler” earned feature starts with the Arctic Cat All Stars during all three programs on Friday through Sunday, April 15-17. Michael, pilot of the Michael Motorsports, Advanced Cast Stone, Fremont Fence Company, Kear’s Speed Shop, Shell Shock, Hinchman Suits, Snap-On, No.8M, finished 11th at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday night, April 15, followed by a 12th place finish at Wayne County Speedway near Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, April 16. The recent triple-header concluded with a 13th place finish at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, April 17. All three programs welcomed more than 30 entries.
Perhaps Michael’s most impressive performance of the weekend occurred on Sunday evening in Bedford, Pennsylvania, where the Texan charged from 20th on the feature grid to finish 13th, earning the MSD Performance Hard Charger Award for the first time in his career.
“Nights like that keep you motivated,” said Michael. “I can’t thank Andy, Tyler and my entire team enough for what they do. They make my job easy.”
