TBJ Promotions 2nd annual Topless at the Ditch Less Than Three Weeks Away

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (Aug. 21, 2013) – Anticipation is peaking as the 2nd annual Topless at the Ditch is less than three weeks away.

The TBJ Promotions event, held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Riverside International Speedway, will feature the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series for its second visit to the quarter-mile track in as many seasons.

For a limited time, fans can receive $5 off an adult general admission ticket by ordering online at http://www.TBJPromotions.com.

“I’ve always been a winged race car driver, but I’ve always been a fan of the nonwing USAC guys,” TBJ Promotions Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “I thought it’d be interesting last year. As fun and successful as it was to be a promoter and not have to worry about driving, we wanted to bring them back and build off last year’s event and bring something different to the area.”

Brady Bacon took the lead just after the midpoint of the 40-lap feature and held off a couple of local drivers for the victory, which was his first of last season.

“(The local drivers) were really good,” Bacon said. “They even had 360 (engines). They were definitely pretty tough for a lot of us.”

Two of the top six drivers and three of the top nine were local drivers, including fourth-place finisher Anthony Nicholson. Zach Pringle narrowly missed a top five with a sixth-place result and Tim Crawley placed ninth.

“The locals know how to get around there with or without a wing,” Bruce Jr. said. “The local guys have a shot, even if it’s something they don’t do every weekend.”

Bacon opened the night by setting quick time of the more than 30 drivers who qualified.

“With the USAC format, it really helps if you qualify good,” he said. “If you qualify in the top six your night is going to be a lot easier than if you don’t. Qualifying good is the biggest thing at a USAC race.

“I think it was good racing for everybody. It’s something different for that part of the country.”

The pit gate is scheduled to open 4 p.m. with the front gate opening at 5:30 p.m. Racing is slated to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
