Mercer

Mercer, PA (August 28, 2013): After a short sabbatical, Mercer Raceway Park will come back to life in the month of September with three big programs and a practice session to kick things off again. There will be no action at the speedway over the Labor Day weekend. On Wednesday, September 4, there will be a practice session open to all classes of race cars. That will be the final tune-up for the last night of point racing, which will take place on Saturday, September 7. That program will also be Meet Your Heroes Night, presented by Herr’s. Attention will turn to the pulling pit the following week, as the USA East Regional Final Fall Nationals Truck and Tractor Pull will be offered by Watson’s. Then, the oval will close out the racing season with the 14th Annual Little Guy Nationals, on September 20 and 21, courtesy of American Racer Tires.

When racing resumes at the Park, six divisional championships will be on the line. Several of the title holders are readily identifiable, but, in two of the classes, things are just too close to call. Things just could not get much tighter than they are in the 410 Sprint Car class, which is sponsored by Luxaire Heating & Cooling, New Wilmington Motors, and Ralph Butch, Inc. There, Eric Williams has a slim two point margin over Jack Sodeman, Jr. Williams is seeking his second straight crown at the track, while Sodeman wants to grab his first. In the Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Michael Bauer and Jimmy Morris are the leaders, but C.J. Jones and Joe McEwen might also have some say in who gets the accolades from Bonnell’s Collision Center. Frankie Guidace (Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds), Shane Pfeuffer (Big Daddy’s Speed Center/Rock Concrete Modified Lites), Rusty Moore (Precise Racing Products Stock Cars), and Jamey Lee (Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking/Ray’s Racing Collectibles Mini Stocks) are likely champions in their respective classes.
