The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway Hosts the 8th Annual Fall Classic with Record $118,000 Plus Purse

East Smethport, Pennsylvania (September 17, 2013) Excitement is building at the NDRL’s McKean County Raceway as the Eighth Annual ‘Fall Classic’ draws near. The ‘Fall Classic’ has become a staple on the MCR schedule and this year will boast a record purse of over $118,000 as racers from across the region will vie to become ‘Fall Classic’ champion in their respective division. The ‘Fall Classic’ will feature the NDRL’s ULMS Late Models and UEMS Emods in addition to the RUSH Late Model Touring Series, BRP CanAm 360 Late Models, the Close Racing Supply Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Mini-Stocks.

The 8th Annual Fall Classic kicks off on Thursday, September 19 with two sets of time trials for the NDRL’s ULMS Super Late Models and the Sweeney RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series. The two separate sets of time trials will set the field for Friday and Saturday’s events. An extra $250 is up for grabs to the fast qualifiers in each set of ULMS time trials while an extra $150 will go to each fast qualifier with the RUSH late models. Also on tap are the BRP CanAm 360 Late Models as they compete for $1,000 to-win and a guaranteed spot in Friday night’s main event. The UEMS Emods will race for $750 to-win before the Close Racing Supply street stocks and pure stocks will race for $300 to-win and the mini-stocks will compete for a $200 to prize.

MCR will heat up on Friday, September 20 with a $3,000 to-win feature event for the ULMS Super Late Models, a $1,200 to-win event for the RUSH Late Model touring series, and a $1,000 to-win BRP CanAm 360 Late Model event dubbed the ‘Mountain Man – Reed Memorial’. The NDRL’s UEMS Modifieds will go after a $750 winner’s check while the Close Racing Supply street stocks, mini-stocks, and pure stocks will race in a feature’s only format that will invert the top 24 from the night before.

On Saturday, September 21, the stars and cars of the 8th Annual Fall Classic will conclude the weekend with a $7,500 to-win ‘RaceFANS 50’ for the ULMS Super Late Models, a $2,000 to-win 30 lap main event for the RUSH Late Model touring series, and a whopping 50 lap, $5,000 to-win feature event for the UEMS Modifieds. The Close Racing Supply street stocks, mini-stocks, and pure stocks will also be in action for the third night in a row with their feature’s only format that will invert the top 24 from the night before. The Close Racing Supply street stocks finale has been named the ‘Steve Preston Memorial’ with the winner receiving a nine-foot tall trophy courtesy of the Peters Family.

Other festivities throughout the weekend include a Friday morning ULMS vs. UEMS Kickball tournament where the stars of the ULMS and UEMS series’ will face-off in a classic game of Kickball for nothing but family fun and most importantly, bragging rights. An after race party on Friday night will entertain fans of all ages.

Mike Knight of Ripley, New York continues to lead the NDRL’s ULMS 2013 Championship point standings with a commanding 78 point lead over Bear Lake, Pennsylvania’s Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs. Centerville, Pennsylvania’s Robbie Blair sits third in the championship standings while Matt Urban from North East, Pennsylvania is fourth just 21 points ahead of fifth place Russ King of Bristolville, Ohio. Other drivers expected to be in attendance include Dick Barton, Vic Coffey, Billy Decker, Jason Dupont, Doug Eck, Coleby Frye, Rich Gardner, Chris Hackett, Dave Hess Jr., Davey Johnson, Matt Lux, Greg Oakes, Brent Rhebergen, David Scott, Dan Stone, Chad Valone, Jim Yoder, Dylan Yoder, and Mason Zeigler to name a few.

Steve Dixon of Smethport, Pennsylvania leads the NDRL’s UEMS A&MP Electric Emod contingent into the ‘Fall Classic’ with a 74 point lead over Olean, New York’s Randy Hall and 92 points over Hall’s teammate and car owner Vic Vena of Portville, New York. Mars, Pennsylvania’s Carl McKinney sits fourth in the point standings 16 points ahead of East Springfield, Pennsylvania’s Ken Zimmer. A plethora of modified drivers from across the region are planning on attending including Ohio’s Rick Aukland and D.J. Cline, Brandon Blochinger from Concordia, Kansas, Michagan’s Curt Splading, as well as Kirk Bradley, Al Brewer, Dan Davies, Brian Douglass, Russ Dunn, Greg Johnson, Rich Michael, Dave Hess Jr., and Brent Rhebergen who will both be pulling double duty, Even Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, and Joel Watson and many others.

2013 RUSH Weekly champion, Max Blair of Centerville, PA will look to defend his home turf against the RUSH Late Model Touring Series regulars while other weekly champions, Adam Ashcroft in the Close Racing Supply Street Stocks, Joe Layfield in the Pure Stocks, and Mini-Stock Champion Joe Boylan will all have their hands full as drivers from across the region are expected in all divisions as the BRP CanAm 360 Late Model Tour will also be in action.

Pit gates for Thursday and Friday, September 19 and 20 open at 3:00pm with grandstand gates opening at 5:00pm while racing will begin at 7:30pm on Thursday and 7:00pm on Friday. Gate times for Saturday, September 21 are 11:00am for pits, while the Ultimate Fan Party will be held at 12:00pm. Ultimate Fan and advance sale ticket holders can enter the grandstands at 2:30pm while regular ticket holders can enter the grandstand area at 3:15pm. Drivers are reminded that both Yellow (Westhold) and Red (AMB) transponders will be utilized during the Eighth Annual Fall Classic for the ULMS Super Late Models, RUSH Late Model Touring Series, ULMS Emods, and the BRP CanAm Late Models. McKean County Raceway will have a supply of both red AMB and yellow Westhold transponder sets to rent $20.00 per night or $50.00 for the entire Fall Classic weekend. Drivers with their own red or yellow transponder must present transponder number at registration.
