The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway to Implement Electronic Scoring

East Smethport, PA (May 27, 2013) The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway will use the electronic scoring system that has become more and more common within the region. The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway has purchased the Westhold transponder system that will be used for scoring in the super late model, crate late model and emod weekly divisions. The Street Stocks and mini stock divisions will not be required to use them at this time.

The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway is expecting to have the new system in place for the $7,500 to win “Smethport 50” NDRL/ULMS Late Model Series event on Friday, May 31. The NDRL is spending thousands of dollars on this system in an effort to make McKean County Raceway one of the northeast regions top dirt tracks as it already has the top weekly purses. With the addition of the Westhold transponder system, time trials can now be used for the bigger paying events for the late models, crate late models and emods. A yellow Westhold transponder sells for approximately $250 less than other transponders. Additionally, Stateline Speedway is already using the Westhold system and this system can be transported and used at NDRL national and the regional ULMS late model and UEMS emod events when needed.

The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway will have a supply of yellow Westhold transponder sets to sell to race teams for only $225. The set includes the rechargeable transponder, charger and mounting pouch. This set retails for $240 online. Race teams can rent to own for $30 per night for 10 nights. Weekly rentals for the Westhold transponders will be $20.

Transponders will be used on Super Late Models, Crate Late Models and Emods. All teams with Westhold transponders are asked to bring them to The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway for the “Smethport 50” on May 31. In the event that the Westhold system is not functional for May 31, McKean County Raceway will continue to use the newly instituted “passing point” system for all classes including the NDRL’s ULMS Series Late Models. All race teams with transponders are asked to email their Westhold transponder number to Chris Zuver at ulms_racing@hotmail.com before arriving to speed up the registration process.
