Special Silent Auction Raises Funds On Race Night For Lucky Drivers

Port Royal – Thousands and thousands of dollars in contingency cash and prizes will be up for grabs by sprint car drivers at the upcoming August 2 Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal Speedway on top of the posted event purse that eclipses $50,000.

As has become customary over the last few years, each of the 16-lap semi mains will pay $20 to lead a lap as will the 35-lap Dream A main.

Firms sponsoring the lap money are include: York County Racing Club, CRANKWERKZ, Leach Automotive Service, RE Davidson & Son, Boulevard Car Wash, Rebecca Kerstetter Agency and Bryan Imes Auctioneer.

Lelands.com will be paying a $125 Hard Charger Award in each of the semi mains and the firm will post $250 for the Hard Charger in the A.

Packers Concessions will again be paying $100 to the fast timer in both semis.

Hoseheads.com will also be posting $400 in Car Wash Cash to the first 40 drivers that enter competition at the event. Each of the drivers will receive a $10 roll of quarters upon registering.

Even more cash will be raised for select lucky drivers at a special Silent Auction taking place behind the grandstand between 4 pm and a time to be determined.

All the money raised at the auction will be put into one total and evenly allotted between either four or six drivers, dependent upon the final amount raised.

At that point, select fans will be chosen from the crowd to pick which drivers will be the recipients of the special cash awards.

Items being offered for bid to date include the following: Mario Lemieux hockey stick, Mike Schmidt signed baseball, Reggie Jackson signed baseball, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays signed photographs, Muhammad Ali signed photograph and two sets of one-night passes to Port Royal Speedway.

And on top of all of the above listed cash giveaways, contingency prizes to be given away on a first come, first serve basis to each driver on Dream Race night include Hoosier Tires, Zemco Headers gift certificates, DMI gift certificates, VRP Shocks gift certificates, Goshorn Racing Supply gift certificates, Wings Unlimited gift certificates, gallons of free fuel and products from Moose Blocks.

In addition, Penske Shocks will award a full set of shocks valued at $1,000 alone to the first driver across the line in the Non-Qualifiers main riding on a set of Penskes.

Rider Racing Engines and Don Ott Racing Engines will also be awarding complimentary engine dynos to select Rider and Ott driven mounts in the A main.

Gates will open at 4 pm for the 2014 Dream Race honoring Lance Dewease and Maynard Boop.

Racing begins at 7 pm.
