Recent All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘Champion’ and former $150,000 Knoxville Nationals Champion, Tim Shaffer, is set to take part in this weekend’s Australian Open with the World Series Sprintcars at Archerfield Speedway – for round no. 9 of the WSS tour. The two day WSS event at Archerfield will be this Friday and Saturday; January 6th and 7th.

Tim Shaffer, who is a former World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series regular for many seasons, will be piloting the Titan Garages/Oven U #36 Maxim, owned by Reeve Kruck, for six events while visiting Australia; including this weekend’s WSS double header. ‘The Steel City Outlaw’ will also be in action with the premiere Australian sprintcar series next Saturday, January 14th, at Speedway City for round no. 10 of the WSS tour.

The hottest sprint car competitor in Australia, James McFadden, is sure to have his hands full this weekend when Shaffer rolls into town. McFadden has been unstoppable thus far in 2011/2012; winning six of eight rounds so far with the World Series Sprintcars. He is on a three race win streak with the series entering Archerfield; which were all claimed during ‘speedweek’ competition. Perhaps Tim Shaffer will have enough to knock off the current WSS point leader and win leader.
