Bowling Green, Ohio (11/15/2012) – Bowling Green, Ohio native and Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) series regular, Travis Philo, ended his 2012 season in ‘410’ sprint car competition on a stretch of ‘up and down’ results. The 21-year-old out of northwestern Ohio competed on many levels of sprint car competition during the recent season; but concentrated mainly on the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title championship. Philo ended his F.A.S.T. Series campaign on a solid note; wrapping-up the year 15th in the final championship standings after racing a full season against a solid roster of driver talent. The pilot of the familiar Control Design Solutions/Eagle Chassis ‘5T’ would also earn top 15 finishes in the Attica Raceway Park, and Fremont Speedway, championship standings. Travs Philo’s season high came back on July 6th, when the Philo Motorsports ‘5T’ would find victory lane at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio during a non-F.A.S.T. program. This would be Philo’s first career Attica win.
“We finally got that win at Attica…it was a long time coming!” said Philo, “We didn’t have the most consistent season…too many DNF’s…but all in all we are pleased…we got that first win and that means so much to me and the rest of the team…hopefully we can find victory lane a few more times in 2013!”
With the F.A.S.T. Series focusing solely on select events at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and the Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, it is safe to say that Travis Philo was becoming very familiar with the two northwestern Ohio ovals. The majority of Philo’s starts in 2012 came at one of those two renown venues. Although Philo ended the F.A.S.T. Series schedule without any trips to victory lane, the pilot of the black and red, Philo Motorsports ‘5T’ was still able to secure a top-15 finish in the final standings. The Ohioan was able to gain valuable experience with each and every start.
During non-F.A.S.T. sanctioned competition, Attica Raceway Park, the site of Philo’s first and only win of the 2012 season, would prove to favor the young man the most; as the Philo Motorsports team wrapped-up their Attica Raceway Park campaign inside the top 10 of the final ‘410’ standings, while also earning a career first victory. Fremont Speedway, a destination for many Saturday night sprint car enthusiasts in northwestern Ohio, would prove to be a little more of a handful for the Philo ‘5T’ operation. Travis would end the Fremont season 14th in the final track standings.
“It was just a real up and down year…I think the results speak for themselves…just too many DNF’s and too many missed starts to be in a championship hunt” explained Philo, “We got this new Eagle working really well now…we were fast all year and our win proved that…we just couldn’t get things to go our way sometimes…we will work just as hard next year and hopefully improve!”
As far as 2013 is concerned, Philo has not released any permanent plans or details. The ‘5T’ team will most likely run a similar schedule as 2012; focusing mainly on competition in northwestern Ohio, as well as racing with the All-Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series when they invade the region.
“I just can’t thank everybody enough!” said Philo, “My entire family and all of our sponsors…this year was a solid year but without the help of my family and sponsors/supporters, I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish anything…thank you all very much!”
