WAYCROSS, GA (January 23, 2013) – Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are excited to announce that the 37th Annual Winternationals, being held Feb 11-16th at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL, will pay out over $200,000 in purse money alone for the week. This year’s “Winternationals” will offer racers more money and more chances to make the starting field for the coveted A-Main. East Bay Raceway Park officials have added two Non-Qualifier Races; the first on Friday Night Feb 15th and the second on Saturday night Feb 16th. Racers that fail to transfer to the feature event on those nights will compete in a Non-Qualifiers race that will pay $1,000 to the winner and $100 to start for each of those two nights.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, along with marketing partners Performance Rod and Custom (PRC) and DirtonDirt.com will give racers two additional starting spots in the feature event, each of the six nights of the 37th Annual Winternationals. A total of 26 cars will start the feature each night at East Bay Raceway Park. Racers will also get a chance to make the feature event through an extra provisional starting spot titled the “DirtonDirt.com Fast Time Provisional”. The fastest qualifier that did not earn a starting position in the feature through Heat Races or B-Mains will start 25th in the feature each night. The traditional Strawberry Dash will be sponsored by PRC this year and will give the winner of the dash a load of Florida grown strawberries and the 26th and final starting position in the feature event all six nights. No series points provisionals will be added to the starting field on the first four nights of the Winternationals.
“We’re very excited about this year’s Winternationals with the added Non-Qualifier races to give racers more chances to earn some extra money while racing at East Bay Raceway Park. Having partners like PRC and DirtonDirt.com step up this year to give racers two extra starting positions to make the coveted A-Main each night should produce some exciting racing for the fans, ” stated Ritchie Lewis, Director, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
The 37th Annual Winternationals officially gets started at the famed “Clay by the Bay” on Sunday night Feb 10th with an open practice session for racers to shake down their cars in preparation for the week-long events. Each night at 6:00PM EST, beginning on Monday Feb 11th, the series will start with a complete show. Drivers will be competing for $5,000 to win on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Then on Wednesday and Thursday nights, drivers will compete for $7,000 to win. The final two nights, Friday and Saturday, will pay $10,000 to win, respectively. The final two nights’ events on Friday and Saturday will be the first points paying events of the 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Each night’s events will include Hot Laps, RedBuck Cigars Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, PRC Strawberry Dash, and an A-Main feature event each night.
