Orrville, Ohio (September 15, 2012) Under beautiful skies NAPA Auto Parts WCS opened its gates for our annual Pure Stock Nationals. Also racing were Lias Tire Super Late Models, Fisher Performance Sprints, Bremenour Electric Modifieds and Mini Stocks.

In the Pure Stock Nationals Kyle Dickinson jumped out to the early lead just ahead of Glen Underwood, Rich Frame, Rob Parker and Todd Swim. One lap one an early caution flew. The racing resumed with Dickinson powering back to the front but it would be short lived as another caution came out on lap three for Bruce Redman who spun while in the sixth positions. With couple more cautions in the books the racing got back underway with Underwood plastered to the rear bumper of the leader Dickinson. Frame, Swim and Dickerson battled back and forth for position in the early laps. With an onslaught of cautions the racing started heating up as the temperatures began to drop. Out front it was Dickinson holding on to the point just ahead of Underwood, Dickerson, Swim and Eric Eicholtz. More door handle to door handle action ensued between Dickerson and Swim as Dickerson slid high and Swim dove under him for the position. Dickerson battled back to snag the third position back from Swim. On lap twenty two Underwood slipped under to complete to the pass on Dickinson to take the lead. As the field came to take the checkered flag Dickinson car began to smoke heavily. At the checkered flag it was Underwood taking home the win just head of Dickerson, Dickinson who was able to limp it home for a third place finish, Eicholtz and Swim who rounded out the top five. Redman, Frame, Dickerson and Underwood won heats.

In the Fisher Performance Sprints Dalton, Ohio Lee Jacobs took the early lead with Chris Myers, Sheldon Haudenschild, Dallas Hewitt, Beau Stewart and Danny Mumaw in tow. An early caution flew as Jamie Myers and Jason Dolick got together ending the night of both drivers. Back under green Jacobs pulled ahead of the field but the racing behind him was fast and furious as on lap three Stewart dove under Haudenschild and Hewitt to jump up to the third position. Stewart tried to hold Haudenschild off but was unsuccessful as he battled back and regained third position. Stewart was able to keep Hewitt at bay. On lap seven Myers pulled close to Jacobs but Jacobs was able to hold his lead. On lap nine the caution again would fly as Myers retired for the night with mechanical issues. When the racing resumed Mumaw slung shot around Hewitt on the high side then dove under Stewart on the inside to jump up to the third position. By lap twenty one the leaders were dealing with lapped traffic. On lap twenty two the red flag was displayed as Hewitt and Mitch Harble touched tires which resulted in Harble flipping to a stop in turn one. Harble exited what was left of his sprint car on his own power. Both Harble and Hewitt nights were done. The red flag eased the sizable lead Jacobs had on the field. It wouldn’t matter as the checkered flew Jacobs came home the winner. He was followed by Mumaw who made a late race slide job pass to take second, Haudenschild, Stewart and Shawn Hubler. Myers and Hewitt won heat races.

In the Lias Tire Super Late Models Dave Hornikel motored to the early lead just ahead of John Mollick and Shane McLoughlin. Mollick started to close on the leader but hopped the cushion in turn one and lost several positions. McLoughlin set his sights Hornikel and began applying pressure to the leader. McLoughlin dove under Hornikel who was running the cushion to take the lead. Last weeks feature winner George Lee slipped to third place and began to close on Hornikel. On lap sixteen Hornikel closed the gap on McLoughlin as they maneuvered lapped traffic. A late race caution bunched the field and erased McLoughlin’s lead. At the finish line it was McLoughlin coming home the winner just head of Lee, ninth starting Corey Conley, Weston Hutchinson and Ryan Markham. Lee, Mollick and McLoughlin won heat races. Conley who started ninth and finished third was the class hard charger. Conley powered past several good cars on his way to third place finish and just ran out of laps as he was closing on Lee.

In the Bremenour Electric Modified division Mitch Basich took the early lead just ahead of Jesse Wisecarver, Dave Bodkins, and Kevin Morehouse. On lap one the caution flew for Bodkins who spun. When the racing resumed Basich still held the point but the racing behind the leader got interesting as Morehouse slipped past Wisecarver for second place. Wisecarver battled back to regain the position on lap two. Morehouse retired to the pits with mechanical issues. On lap four Wisecarver applied heavy pressure to Basich and on lap five Wisecarver took the lead. On lap sixteen Basich started catching the Wisecarver the leader but it was too little too late as Wisecarver held on for the win. He was followed by Basich, Nathon Loney, Eric Singhaus and Kevin Miller. Bodkins and Morehouse won heat races.

In the NAPA Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway Mini Stocks Jason St. John, Doug Hensel and Brad Hensel battled three wide for the early lead. St. John came out in front as the field settled in. On lap five it was a tight battle for the lead between St. John and Steve Miller. On lap nine Miller running the high side squeezed past St. John to take the lead. On the white flag lap Miller got caught behind a lapped car which allowed St. John to close and nearly pass him for the lead but at the stripe it was Miller coming home the winner followed by St. John, Brad Hensel, Jerry Adkins and Doug Hensel. St. John and Roger Rush won heat races.
