We Don’t Have A Cat! | VOL. 1
Let’s start here…
December 19, 2024:
So, let’s get one thing straight, I’m no stranger to the dealings of daily life with a feline or two, and a dog to boot. In fact, not only was he a closet animal lover, my father was persistent in providing the utmost care for any animal that lived with us in our home. Of course, his idea of 24-hour care was leaving the basement door open so they could come and go as they please, and just in case they were unable to navigate themselves to the northwest corner of the bottom level of the house, the basement windows were also left open – literally open. For Abby, who was a hardly-obese black lab at the time, living on table scraps and the occasional stolen dish of Meow Mix, the window was an obvious hurdle, so the door was her sole route to sanctity. But for Jimmer and Jasper, it was a swift run up the entertainment center, a criss-cross onto the back of the couch, and out the window they went, free to land mine as they pleased in a 13-acre litter box. For my sister and I, maintaining this level of pet care was just as important and we embraced our father’s methods, quick to endure periods of early onset hyperthermia. We would do just about anything to keep from having to clean a litter box. It’s a tough world.
For those who do not know who I am, or maybe you’re visiting my site for the first time, my name is Tyler Altmeyer and I am the owner and sole contributor to Fully Injected Motorsports – an online media service dedicated to helping race teams (a dirt racing emphasis) reach their full potential in online press, exposure and distribution. I’m a small town guy with History and Library Science degrees, stuck in an Emo musical time warp filled with the likes of New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, and Underoath. I’ve been in the “PR” game a long time, commencing such activities as a blogger sometime in the early college years (2005-2009) before transitioning into “full-time” racing press. That transition occurred sometime in late 2010 through early 2011, and with my headquarters right in the heart of Western Pennsylvania, my initial focus was helping teams who spent their weekends circumnavigating the local Western Pennsylvania scene. The early years were challenging, and free, doing my best to build a brand, and hopefully, a solid reputation as a reputable writer. It was a mistake-ridden first few years in the writing game, and not that I’m any closer to Bill Shakespeare today, the learning curve was fun and I’m ever grateful for those who gave me the opportunity, no matter how many times I mispelled hometowns and partners. I still have a lot to learn, and the learning will never stop, but I’m confident in saying things have come a long way. Oh, and as far as the name – Fully Injected Motorsports – the idea was to create a brand that was loud, weird, and kinda awkward, much like myself, and ultimately recognizable. You may not know what Fully Injected Motorsports is, but you’ve probably heard the name and that was the goal.
With the annual Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations just around the corner, what better time to step out of the box and try something new. Afterfall, much of my year is completely engulfed in racing, and not that I am complaining, as that is how I make much of my living, and we all need to live. It’s pretty important. But I’ve always wanted to take a few minutes of my week and give readers something new to enjoy; a look inside, so to speak, and get to know more about the writer and my own personal experiences. We’ll explore just about everything, from my hunting adventures with my closest friends, to the dealings that coincide with maintaining my family’s farm, and I’m excited to share. I plan to keep these short with a limit at 300-500 words, and with a face for radio, I feel text is my best route for storytelling. So, sit back and relax and let’s have some fun.
Until next time…
