FOREST, Ohio (May 6, 2019) – It has been a frustrating few weeks for Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports, as Mother Nature continues to be a burden for much of the dirt track racing world.

Despite the fact, the Forest, Ohio-based operation found action at Gas City Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Friday night, May 3, joining 34 other non-wing sprint car competitors for the speedway’s season-opening ‘Spring Fling.’ It was a stout field, but Westfall persevered, ultimately qualifying for main event action by rallying from fifth to third during his respective heat race, eventually concluding his evening with a top-fen finish.

Westfall, who will hunt for a Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) title in 2019 under the command of the Ray Marshall Motorsports No. 33M, finished eighth during the non-stop Gas City feature, bumping ahead one position after starting ninth.

“I’m proud of my team and what they were able to do at Gas City on Friday. It was a tricky track, for sure, but Matt [Westfall] did what he had to do and salvaged a top-ten against a tough field,” Ray Marshall explained, owner of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “Hopefully we can move some of this momentum into next weekend when we visit Eldora Speedway.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2019 campaign with a doubleheader in the Buckeye State, joining the USAC National Sprint Car Series for #LetsRaceTwo weekend at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, May 10 & 11. Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will enter the weekend with one victory on the season, that occurring at the highbanks of Atomic Speedway on April 13.

“I can’t wait to get to Eldora,” Matt Westfall said. “It’s one of dirt’s biggest stages. It’s hard to not be excited about racing there.”
