FOREST, Ohio (February 17, 2020) – Kicking-off their 2020 campaign in a big way, Matt Westfall and Forest, Ohio-based Ray Marshall Motorsports made the trip to the Sunshine State during the recent weekend and joined the best of the USAC National Sprint Series for another edition of the annual Winter Dirt Games at Bubba Raceway Park. Despite Mother Nature making an appearance and ruining the first night of action, the show went on as scheduled on Friday and Saturday, February 14-15, with 30 cars making the call on Friday and 29 entering action on Saturday.
Forced to duel with some of the best non-wing sprint car drivers in the country, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports put together a competitive weekend in Ocala, Florida, and eventually ended their two-day campaign with back-to-back main event starts, finishing 14th & 15th, respectively. Although missing the top-ten during each of the contests, Westfall advanced a total 14 main event positions and raced ahead from 19th and 24th.
“I don’t think the end results were what we wanted, but we persevered and raced well. The season is young. This was a great way for us to get our feet wet and knock some rust off,” Matt Westfall said, the 2019 Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) champion. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for the opportunity to come to Florida and race. We have some time before we race again, so we’ll use that time to regroup and figure out what we need to do differently.”
Matt Westfall and the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M race team won’t return to action until March 28 when BOSS invades Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, for their $3,000-to-win season opener.
