FOREST, Ohio (February 21, 2022) – The wait was long, but the wait is now over, as Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports finally activated their 2022 campaign with a trip south to the Sunshine State, joining the Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series and USAC National Sprint Cars for events at Volusia Speedway Park and Bubba Raceway Park, respectively.
Although the team’s Florida stint kicked-off in unpleasant fashion, highlighting their two-day Xtreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series appearance at Volusia with a 19th-place score, Westfall and Ray Marshall’s “Bumblebee Express” rebounded significantly, eventually translating a trio of USAC starts at Ocala’s Bubba Raceway Park into three respectable outcomes, finishing as high as 13th to highlight the annual Winter Dirt Games.
In all, Westfall finished 13th, 13th, and 17th during his visit to Bubba on February 17-19, gaining a total of ten feature positions including a five spot jump in the weekend finale on Saturday. There were over 40 cars entered.
“I don’t think our results reflect our performances. We had a busy week with some up and down luck, but regardless, it’s great to get this season activated and I’m already looking forward to the next time we get to race,” Westfall said, driver of Ray Marshall’s Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for the opportunities he has given me. He gives the team everything it needs to be successful and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure success is always the end result.”
