FOREST, Ohio (July 20, 2020) – For the first time in 2020, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports are feature winners, doing so during non-wing weekly action at the Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Friday evening, July 17. The win, Westfall’s second at the Gas City quarter-mile over the last two seasons, was accomplished from the fifth-starting position, rallying in a hurry and taking command for the first time before the completion of lap three.
“That was a lot of fun. We needed that win,” Matt Westfall said, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for his support. Even if things get tough, we stick with it and work hard to find ways to improve. Hopefully we can transfer some of this momentum into USAC Sprint Week.”
“I’m proud of this team. They never give up and it shows. We were well overdue for a win, but we finally got it,” Ray Marshall continued. “I’m sure this is just one of many for this team in 2020.”
Other recent results for Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports includes a fourth-place performance during BOSS Series action at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, July 18. Impressive enough, Westfall earned his top-five outcome after starting tenth on the grid.
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will switch gears and rejoin the best of USAC during the coming days, setting their aim on Indiana Sprint Week. The seven-race campaign will ignite on Friday evening, July 24, at Gas City I-69 Speedway.
