FOREST, Ohio (July 5, 2021) – Despite kicking off the holiday weekend with results straying outside of the top-ten, finishing 16th during a USAC National Sprint Car Series visit to Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, on Thursday, July 1, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports turned things up in a big way the following two evenings and secured back-to-back top-fives during Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) competition at Ohio Valley Speedway and Waynesfield Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday, July 2-3.

Westfall, driver of Ray Marshall’s Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, finished fifth and fourth, respectively, during his BOSS appearances, highlighting the weekend with a two spot jump to fifth at Ohio Valley Speedway, securing the fifth position over BOSS Series point leader, Cody White, with just two circuits remaining.

Although forced to settle for two spots shy of their starting position, finishing fourth after starting from the outside-pole, Westfall’s performance at Waynesfield was the total package, kicking off the evening with the fastest qualifying time, all before finishing second during his respective heat race.

“It was great to put together a few solid nights with the BOSS Series. We’ve had a lot of success with them in the past, so our confidence level is always higher when we pull into the pits,” Westfall said, a former BOSS champion aboard Ray Marshall’s Bumblebee Express and a two-time Series winner in 2020. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for everything he does for this race team. Some of the travel that our schedule requires is pretty demanding, but Ray never fails to give us the tools necessary to get to the track, compete, and be successful. We’ll do what we can to get a win for him this weekend.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with a doubleheader weekend, this time setting aim on action at Gas City I-69 Speedway on Friday, July 9, followed by another BOSS Series start, this time at the highbanks of Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Saturday, July 10; Saturday’s BOSS program will award $2,000.

“We’ve won multiple BOSS features at Atomic,” Westfall continued. “We should be a factor all night.”

The Forest, Ohio-based race team will enter the Indiana/Ohio double with one victory on the season, occurring at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, on April 9.
