FOREST, Ohio (September 26, 2022) – Despite a rather tough start to their extended weekend, scored 21st during USAC action at Gas City I-69 Speedway on Thursday, September 22, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports turned the corner and capped their two-race swing on a high note, scoring a top-ten performance in Eldora Speedway’s $10,000-to-win 4-Crown Nationals on Saturday, September 24.

Joining 40 of USAC’s finest for one of the season’s premier events, Westfall would go on to earn himself the outside-pole position, doing so by recording the seventh-fastest qualifying time overall, followed by a third-place finish during his respective heat race. Doing his best to keep pace, the Pleasant Hill, Ohio, native faded slightly to ninth, eventually working his way back up to seventh before settling into eighth at the final checkers.

The USAC top-ten performance was Westfall’s second in four tries; he finished fifth at Circle City Raceway on September 16.

“It’s always great to get back to Eldora Speedway. It’s a special place and the 4-Crown is a premier event. Anytime you can battle for a top-ten at Eldora says a lot about your program,” Westfall explained, driver of Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “We have another busy weekend ahead with USAC, so hopefully we can put our Eldora momentum to good use and add a few more top-tens to the stat sheet.”

ON DECK:
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2022 campaign with another USAC National Sprint Cars doubleheader in the Hoosier State, first visiting Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, on Friday, September 30, then invading Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on Saturday, October 1.
