FOREST, Ohio (July 7, 2020) – Far from a relaxing vacation, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports took advantage of an extended holiday weekend and entered three events in four days, joining two of non-wing sprint car racing’s finer sanctioning bodies while visiting a trio of facilities scattered throughout Indiana and Ohio.

Although an average start, finishing 11th on Wednesday during USAC National Sprint Car Series competition at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports hit a higher gear two nights later and secured a top-ten performance at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, on Friday, July 3. The top-ten result, finishing seventh in the running order, officially, was the product of row seven.

Outdoing his Friday night rally in a big way, Westfall capped his weekend with a bounce from 14th to third during Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) action at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Saturday, July 4. Certainly no stranger to BOSS non-wing action, Westfall was the 2019 Series champion and earned four victories along the way, two at Atomic.

“It was an awesome weekend for our team. We didn’t achieve the ultimate goal, but to put on a show like that two nights in a row says a lot about what this team is capable of doing. Passing can be a premium, but we made it happen,” Matt Westfall said, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “I can’t thank Ray enough for this opportunity. We’re having a lot of fun right now. Winning would be more fun, but it’s tough to be disappointed over results like these.”

“I’m proud of this entire team,” Ray Marshall explained, “Matt (Westfall) and the guys are doing a great job and I’m proud of their results. I’m confident that our first win of the year is right around the corner.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will return to competition during the coming weekend. A final schedule of events will be determined at a later time.
