By Fully Injected Motorsports:
FOREST, Ohio (May 30, 2023) – Despite a slow start to the week that saw Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports miss the top-ten during USAC action at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana, and Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 23-24, things picked up in a hurry, first getting redemption at Circle City with a top-five performance on Thursday, May 25, followed by a Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) victory at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 27. The long week would then cap with another podium run during non-wing action at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Sunday, May 28.
Westfall, ace of Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, No. 33M “Bumblebee Express” sprint car, earned his Florence Speedway triumph from the front row, taking command with just a short distance remaining in the facility’s first-ever BOSS program. A near-perfect evening, Westfall activated the occasion with a runner-up performance during heat race action; he would go on to start the evening’s feature from the pole position.
The BOSS Series win was Westfall’s first of the year.
The following evening at Waynesfield Raceway Park, Westfall finished second, propelling his top-five count to four on the season, simultaneously bumping his top-ten tally to eight.
The aforementioned top-five at Circle City Raceway on Thursday, May 25, was a fifth-place outcome, climbing four positions after starting ninth on the USAC National Sprint Cars A-Main grid. The Pleasant Hill, Ohio, native was the 16th fastest during qualifying time trials, racing on to win his respective heat race.
“A great weekend for our team, and a great rebound after a slow start to the week,” Westfall explained. “Feels great to get that first win out of the way. The first one is always the hardest to achieve. None of this would be possible without Ray Marshall. He has more passion for racing than anyone I’ve ever met and I’m proud to be in his cars.”
