VINCENTOWN, N.J. (October 11, 2021) – In perhaps his top performance of the season, Vincentown, New Jersey’s Justin Whittall put on a show Saturday night in Port Royal Speedway’s Nittany Showdown finale and nearly found himself inside the top-ten with the best sprint car drivers in the world, ultimately completing his 2021 campaign with an 11th-place score against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series; it was Whittall’s first-ever feature start against the Greatest Show On Dirt.
Impressive, nonetheless, Whittall, driver of the JW Motorsports, JG Kronenberger Fine Jewelry, Mid-Atlantic Transport, Brotherton Brewing Company, Beechwood Landscape Architecture and Construction LLC, Pioneer Auto Body, Worldwide Bearings, FK Rod Ends, Stilo Helmets, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Enterprise, Ground Blind Boys, No. 67 sprint car, earned his 11th-place outcome from 20th on the grid, tying ten-time Series champion, Donny Schatz, for the evening’s hard charger award (Schatz declared hard charger with his overall finish being higher than Whittall’s).
Whittall was in prime position to potentially duplicate his Saturday outcome on Friday, but contact with the outside retaining wall during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown erased all potential. Despite the fact, Whittall made up for his hiccup and performed to the max the following evening.
“I’m really, really proud of everyone involved. It’s kinda sad to say our season is done, but to end our year on a note like that is pretty incredible. We know we have the equipment and the speed to contend with whoever is on the track…we just need to put together all of the pieces.” Whittall said, a former Williams Grove Speedway winner. “I can’t thank my partners enough for all of their dedication this season. It’s been an up and down year for us, but we had our shining moments and I’m sure we made them proud. Here’s to an awesome year…we’ll see everyone in 2022.”
Justin Whittall and JW Motorsports will dive head first into the off-season and immediately begin preparations for the coming season. An update pertaining to Whittall’s 2022 schedule will be posted when it becomes available.
“Thank you, everyone,” Whittall added. “To the fans, my family, our partners…I couldn’t do it without you, so thank you.”
