FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will kick off its final month of 2012 competition with an open wheel doubleheader on Friday night, October 5 at 7:30 pm.

On the schedule is the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprints along with the Tool Shed of America 358 sprint cars.

The Friday program is the second to last point program of the year for the regular Grove sprint car divisions.

While Greg Hodnett has pretty much locked up his second career 410 sprint title albeit a first for car owner John Trone, the 358 title hangs in the balance.

Currently on top of the standings is Abbottstown’s Eric Tomecek by just 100 points over Adrian Shaffer with perennial track titlist Pat Cannon lurking just 20 markers back of Shaffer.

If able to pocket the title, it would be a career first for either Tomecek or Shaffer while it would be the fifth for Cannon.

The final point show of the season for both sprint car divisions will be held on Friday, October 12.

There has been a varied group of 358 sprint winners at the track this year numbering 10 with only two drivers able to repeat.

The 410 sprint division has placed 19 different winners in victory lane this season.

TJ Stutts took the most recent 358 sprint feature, contested on September 21 while World of Outlaws driver Donny Schatz scored the 50th annual National Open for the 410 sprints on September 29.

Following the final point programs for the sprint cars on October 12, the 410 and 358 sprints return for the season-ending Fall Fest on Saturday, October 20.

The Fall Fest will be a features only program for the two sprint divisions along with the super sportsman and the 358 late models.
