Williams Grove Hosts All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints and ARDC Midgets Friday
Williams Grove Speedway

Mechanicsburg – The first of two invasions of the year by the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints at Williams Grove Speedway is set for this Friday, April 26 at 7:30 pm as the traveling band takes to the track to battle with the Pennsylvania Posse.

The All Stars and the Posse will compete in a 30-lap main event paying $5,000 to win. The ARDC Midgets are also on the card.

The race will be the first leg of the 2013 Diamond Series at the oval.

Prior to the races, a meet and greet with a few members of the All Stars is slated for the infield. Some select members of the ARDC ranks will have their cars on display in addition.

No bona fide traveling All Star has ever won an All Star sanctioned race at Williams Grove and the Grove racers and fans are looking to keep that record intact again this time around.

The first All Star event ever contested at the historic oval back in 1970 was won by Bobbie Adamson.

In 2012, the All Stars shows at the track went to Logan Schuchart and Brian Leppo.

Schuchart, the grandson of veteran Bobby Allen, went on to be voted the 2012 National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year.

Over the years, no driver has beaten the All Stars more often at the track than Lance Dewease of Fayetteville, who has bested the band a total of five times.

Dewease will enter the Williams Grove event still seeking his first win of the year anywhere for his new car owner, Mike Heffner of Hellertown.

The event could also mark the return to racing of defending track champion Greg Hodnett of Thomasville who has been sitting out in recent weeks due to a hand injury.

Hodnett has beaten the All Stars only once at the track, back in 2003.

Time trials will set the starting grids for the first All Stars vs. Posse showdown of the season.

Travelers potentially entering competition with the All Stars this week include Tim Shaffer, Dale Blaney, Cap Henry, Justin Henderson, Danny Holtgraver and Caleb Helms.

So far this year, Williams Grove Lawrence Chevrolet sprint car winners have been Fred Rahmer, Danny Dietrich and Cory Haas.
