Williams Grove Speedway March 28 Opener Just Three Weeks Away

3/10/14
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mechanicsburg – Just under three weeks remain until the curtain rises on the 2014 racing season at Williams Grove Speedway with the season opener slated to kick off the 75th anniversary season at the oval on Friday night, March 28 at 7:30 pm.

Featured on the twinbill will be the 410 and 358 sprint cars along with fireworks to help celebrate the occasion.

A few days earlier, on March 23 at 1 pm, Williams Grove will host a Test and Tune session for all regular season divisions at the track from both the Friday and Saturday Series programs.

And after the test program, all eyes will turn to the prestigious Williams Grove lidlifter, an event that has been scored over the years by the likes of Kasey Kahne, Jan Opperman, AJ Foyt, Ted Horn and Tommy Hinnershitz.

Last year, the March 29 opener went to Fred Rahmer, who went on to claim the track title. The victory was Rahmer’s sixth in the event.

Other active opening day winners expected to be in the 2014 field include 2012 champion Danny Dietrich, along with Stevie Smith, Lance Dewease, Greg Hodnett and Don Kreitz Jr.

The only appearance of the season by the super late models comes up during the second 2014 Friday racing program at Williams Grove Speedway, on April 4 along with the 410 sprints.

The Williams Grove Speedway Saturday Series races begin on April 26 with the Super Sportsman, 358 late models and street stocks on the program at 6:30 pm.

Of course all of this hinges on whether or not the protracted winter weather abates, giving way to a milder sprint pattern.

Regardless, hopes are high that the start to the 75th anniversary season of auto racing at Williams Grove Speedway will go off without a hitch in just a few weeks.

Make plans now to attend the 2014 season lidlifter at Williams Grove Speedway on March 28.

Kids 12 and under are always free at Williams Grove Speedway.
