Williams Grove Speedway Opens 24th PA Speedweek Series Friday
Oval hosts two series races including $10,000 to win Mitch Smith Memorial on July 4

Mechanicsburg –Williams Grove Speedway will kick off the 24th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek series for 410 sprint cars this Friday night, June 27 at 7:30 pm.

The show will start the annual series that boasts a total of nine shows at area ovals in 10 days.

The June 27 speedweek opening program will also be part of the 2014 Williams Grove Speedway Hoosier Diamond Series.

The speedweek opener at Williams Grove will be the first of two series shows at the track again this season as the oval returns one week later on July 4 with the 26th annual Mitch Smith Memorial paying $10,000 to win the 30-lap feature event.

This week’s race will go 25-laps in distance and pay $5,000 to the winner.

The June 27 speedweek race will also feature an exhibition of restored racecars as put on display by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

The show will include time trials for the 410 sprints as is the case with all speedweek series events.

So far this season in 410 sprint action at Williams Grove a total of nine different drivers haven driven to victory in 10 events.

Daryn Pittman swept the two-day outlaws races in May while other winners have been Gerard McIntyre Jr., Doug Esh, Danny Dietrich, Stevie Smith, Steve Buckwalter, Greg Hodnett, Don Kreitz Jr. and most recently Brian Montieth on June 20.

Last year Hodnett took the series-opening race at Williams Grove while Dietrich claimed the prestigious Mitch Smith Memorial a week later.

Aside from Friday programs at the oval, the Williams Grove Speedway Saturday Series, offering racing action with the Super Sportsman, 358 late models and street stocks at 6:30 pm is currently in full swing.

Saturday Series adult admission is JUST $5. And please remember, kids ages 12 and under are always admitted free at Williams Grove Speedway!
