Xavier Doney enjoys Chili Bowl experience, reverts attention back to 2026 season

ODESSA, Mo. (January 19, 2026) – It’s one of the most competitive short track events in all of motorsports, and Odessa, Missouri’s Xavier Doney was in on the action. And although the 20-year-old was shy of qualifying for Saturday’s Chili Bowl Nationals 55-lap A-Main, the experience gained was unmatchable, already working to compete in the 2027 edition next January. 

Doney, who was a Chili Bowl Nationals teammate to three-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Sammy Swindell, concluded his Chili Bowl Nationals effort in Saturday’s second H-Main, finishing eighth after starting 10th on the grid. With double features all the way back to the letter Q, the H-Main feat was impressive, earning his way there via B-Main start in Thursday’s preliminary. 

Swindell, a former Chili Bowl Nationals champion, concluded his Chili Bowl effort in the second O-Main, racing his way through the evening’s second Q and P feature. 

With the Chili Bowl Nationals complete, the 2026 season is in full view. Doney-Lawson Racing and the Schnee-Lawson Chassis House Cars will roll into 2026 fresh off of a competitive, yet successful 2025 season padded by a podium outcome in the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint League driver standings. In fact, Xavier Doney, the ace who achieved the aforementioned statistic, won twice in his POWRi schedule, ending his campaign with 19 top-ten finishes in 24 A-Main starts.

Doney-Lawson Racing’s official schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
