Zearfoss earns top-ten during Bob Weikert Memorial opener
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, PA (May 30, 2017) – Brock Zearfoss’ top-ten count at Port Royal Speedway continues to climb, now accumulating seven in nine tries, most recently finishing seventh during the Bob Weikert Memorial preliminary program on Saturday evening, May 27. The “Jonestown Jet” was on pace for a perfect evening on Saturday before finishing just outside of the top-five; earning a heat race victory from the outside of row two while also earning the most passing points.
“We were good all night on Saturday. Actually, we were a little too good too early during the A-main. That kept me from getting the wing back far enough later in the race,” Zearfoss explained. “Regardless, we had a great effort. We’ve been having a lot of really good finishes at Port Royal Speedway this season. A few more tweaks and we’ll be right there.”
Unfortunately for Zearfoss, momentum built on Saturday did not follow through into Monday during the Bob Weikert Memorial finale worth $10,000 (postponed from Sunday due to wet weather). The Jonestown, Pennsylvania, native still worked his way into a dash position, ultimately starting ninth during the $10,000-to-win main event before finishing 16th.
“We were on pace for a little better result on Monday, but we tried a few things that really didn’t help us out,” said Zearfoss. “We just kinda went ‘go for broke’ and it didn’t work out. Not exactly how we wanted to end our weekend, but we took some notes and moved on with our heads up.”
Before venturing to Port Royal Speedway, Brock Zearfoss and car owner Aaron Long visited Williams Grove Speedway on Friday evening, May 26. Wing damage during the main event forced Zearfoss to retire and be scored 22nd.
“It’s tough for us right now because the results read the exact opposite, but we are learning a ton,” Zearfoss explained about the Aaron Long-owned/H&N Landscaping/RV 4 Wheel Drive/Leahys Auto Body & Towing/No. 58. “We’re going to keep plugging away.”
Brock Zearfoss will return to competition on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, with repeat appearances at Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal Speedway, once again driving to the Aaron Long-owned No. 58 at The Grove before returning to his family ride at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace.”
