Zearfoss rallies for National Open top-ten finish
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, PA (October 2, 2017) – Capping off a three-day campaign with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the famed Williams Grove Speedway, the “Jonestown Jet” Brock Zearfoss rallied from deep within the field on Saturday night to finish ninth during the Champion Racing Oil National Open finale. Zearfoss’ impressive charge started from the outside of row eight, battling for positions as high as fifth before settling into ninth.
The former World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature winner at the world-famous paperclip qualified for the $50,000-to-win, National Open main event by finishing third during his respective heat race. In addition to his top-ten performance, Zearfoss finished 25th and 16th against the Greatest Show On Dirt during Champion Racing Oil National Open preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday, September 28-29. Nearly 50 cars were entered on all three nights.
“We kept improving as the weekend went on. Things were a little rough to start, but we kept trying things and eventually found where we needed to be. I can’t thank Aaron Long enough for this opportunity. We’ve been making a lot of speed this season. The future looks great,” Zearfoss explained, who piloted the H&N Landscaping/RV 4 Wheel Drive/Leahys Auto Body & Towing/No. 58 during National Open weekend. “I think we were good enough to earn a top-five on Saturday. The track didn’t act in our favor the last 20 laps or so, but we did what we could and moved ahead quite a bit.”
The “Jonestown Jet” will continue his 2017 campaign right back at Williams Grove Speedway, set to enter the “Run What You Brung” program for the 410ci sprint cars on Friday night, October 6. Instead of piloting the LA Competition No. 58, Zearfoss will enter action with his family-owned No. 3Z.
