Zearfoss will double-duty during Port Royal’s Open Wheel Madness
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, PA (October 17, 2016) – Brock Zearfoss will perform double-duty on Saturday night, October 22, at Port Royal Speedway, entering the 410ci and URC 360ci portions of the Open Wheel Madness program to officially close the doors on the 2016 Port Royal Speedway season.
Zearfoss, who finished second in the 2016 Port Royal Speedway 410 track championship standings, will partner with Roger McKeehan for the URC segment of the Saturday night special, allowing the “Jonestown Jet” to chase a combined winner’s share equaling $7,200 ($5,000 – 410ci/$2,200 – 360ci) between the two programs.
“I can’t thank Roger (McKeehan) enough for this opportunity. He was very generous in allowing us to use one of this 360ci motors. He’s been around racing for a long time and really believes in our team,” Zearfoss explained. “I’m excited to race two cars in one night. I think we are more than capable of earning two solid finishes, even a win in both. Hopefully we can continue our relationship with Roger long into the future. We’re all excited to get to the weekend.”
Brock Zearfoss, pilot of the Brock Zearfoss Racing, Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill, Meckley’s Limestone, Central Builders Supply Co., Leach’s Automotive, Masters Mechanical Insulation, Comprehensive Test and Balance, Berkebile Oil Company, No. 3Z entry, will enter his evening of double-duty competition with two recent starts against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series to his credit; one at Williams Grove Speedway and one at Port Royal Speedway. Unfortunately for Zearfoss, results were short of expectation.
“We struggled with qualifying on both nights. It really put us in a hole that we struggled to get out of,” Zearfoss explained. “Both qualifying attempts turned into really deep heat race starting positions. We couldn’t get through them, which ultimately forced us to watch on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway and use a provisional on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway. I’m still really proud of my team. They bust their butts day in and day out, and I’m more than happy with their effort. Our car improved each night as the evening went on, so that says a lot about their attitudes and efforts. We were just too deep in the lineups. We’ll rebound this weekend!”
