Dietrich scores first All Star win of 2020 at Monarch Motor Speedway

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (June 16, 2020) – The heat and travel were immense, but Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing prevailed, concluding their first-ever Thunder Through The Plains campaign with the All Star Circuit of Champions with four top-ten finishes, one of which a victory at Monarch Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, on June 12. For Dietrich, the win was his first of the year during All Star competition, but his second of the season overall, also snagging Lincoln Speedway’s annual Icebreaker worth $4,000 on February 22.

The Monarch Motor Speedway triumph earned Dietrich and his team a $5,000 payday, leading all 30 circuits to do so and snagging a heat race victory beforehand.

In addition to Monarch Motor Speedway, Dietrich earned top-ten outcomes at Lawton Speedway (3rd) on June 8, Red Dirt Raceway (5th) on June 5, and Southern Oklahoma Speedway on June 11, finishing second to fellow Pennsylvania-native and PA Posse standout, Brock Zearfoss,

“I can’t thank everyone back home enough for allowing this trip to happen. It was hot, but it was worth it. Our goal from the beginning was to win a race in an area we’ve never visited. Fortunately for us, we were able to make that a reality,” Danny Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “Not sure what we have in store for the weekend, but we’re ready to get back to work.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with a pair of Central Pennsylvania events on Friday and Saturday, June 19-20. Plans have not been finalized, but a tentative outlook suggests Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and another PA destination on Saturday.

Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward the 2020 World of Outlaws championship with another doubleheader weekend, this time visiting the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, on Friday and Saturday, June 19-20. Event: Thunder Through The Plains
Series: All Star Circuit of Champions
Tony Stewart A-Main Finishes (Start):
June 5th – Red Dirt Raceway, Okla. – 23rd (1st)
June 7th – 81 Speedway, Kan. – 5th (5th)
June 8th –  Lawton Speedway, Okla. – 12th (20th)
June 10th – Devil’s Bowl Speedway, Texas – 16th (16th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 16, 2020) – Just as demanding as it was competitive, Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing wrapped-up the 2020 edition of Thunder Through The Plains with a slew of impressive statistics, collecting four top-ten finishes in eight races highlighted with a fifth-place run at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas, on June 7.

Stewart’s All Star run through the Central Time Zone also included an eighth-place finish at Monarch Motor Speedway on June 12, as well as a pair of seventh-place finishes at Lonestar Speedway and Chatham Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14, respectively. Padding the stat book, the Columbus, Indiana-native also earned Hard Charger Award honors twice during Thunder Through The Plains; 20th to 12th at Lawton on June 8 and 14th to seventh at Chatham on June 14. Although not earning the Hard Charger Award, Stewart’s eighth-place result at Monarch was the product of row ten.

Although retiring early and scored 23rd, Stewart started on the pole for the 40-lapper at Red Dirt Raceway on June 5, winning the evening’s dash to do so. An ill timed entry in turn one during the opening laps caused Stewart to lose several spots, eventually making his way pit-side.

Smoke concluded the demanding stretch tenth in the final Thunder Through The Plains standings.

“I think it was a pretty successful week. Anytime you can put up positive results against a talented group like the All Stars says a lot about your team. All we can do now is continue to find ways to improve and hopefully get back up front,” Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Mobil 1/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Carquest/TechNet Professional Automotive Service/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Absolute Automation & Security/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car. “Hopefully we have the opportunity to return to that area of the country and try again.”

Abreu rebounds after Friday mishap to earn top-ten at Knoxville Raceway

Dates: Friday and Saturday, June 12th & 13th
Event: Brownells Big Guns Bash
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 26th (3rd)
Saturday: 8th (5th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (June 16, 2020) – Despite kicking-off his weekend at Knoxville Raceway by getting upside-down during Friday’s main event, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu rebounded in a big way on Saturday and capped the World of Outlaws doubleheader with an eighth-place performance during the Brownells Big Guns Bash finale, solidifying his spot in the 30-lap program by winning his respective heat race and setting the third-fastest time in his respective group of qualifiers. The top-ten outcome was Abreu’s second of the 2020 season.

Before ending his Friday night outing on the hook, Abreu lined-up third on the main event grid, earning his way into the 25-lap Knoxville Raceway preliminary with a heat race victory.

There were 53 cars on hand for the Knoxville Raceway double.

“That’s not how we wanted to end our night on Friday, but we had a lot of speed so we were anxious to get back and redeem ourselves on Saturday,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Salty’s BBQ/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/ShopRico.com/No. 24 sprint car. “I can’t thank my team enough for all of their hard work. Friday kinda put us in a hole work-wise, but we kept our heads up and battled back for a top-ten. The results have been really encouraging. I’m excited to get back at it this weekend.

With USAC Indiana Midget Week engulfing the next three days of Rico Abreu’s racing agenda, visiting Paragon, Gas City and Lincoln Park on June 16-19, respectively, the Rico Abreu Racing winged sprint car will not see action until Friday and Saturday, June 19-20. Definite plans will be announced in the coming days.

Rico Abreu races to a runner-up finish during Knoxville season opener

Date: Saturday, June 6th
Event: Knoxville Raceway Season Opener
Series: Knoxville Weekly Championship
Track: Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 2nd (1st)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (June 8, 2020) – After a pair of practice sessions to become reacquainted with the world-famous Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu hopped back in the seat and entered the 2020 Knoxville Raceway season opener on Saturday, June 6, utilizing what he gathered during testing to fire out a podium performance. The result was Abreu’s first top-five finish of the season, officially ending a frustrating run of results.

Impressive enough, Abreu’s entire evening at the Sprint Car Capital of the World was nearly flawless, first stopping the clocks with the fastest time during qualifying time trials, following those efforts with a second-place finish during heat race competition. The night ended with a runner-up finish during main event action, starting the 20-lapper from the pole position.

Brian Brown, now a 50-time winner at Knoxville Raceway, was the only driver to better Abreu during Knoxville’s season opening main event.

“We needed that,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Priority Aviation/Salty’s BBQ/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/No. 24 sprint car. “My team has been working really hard and I think we finally found our sweet spot. The testing worked out really well and it gave us an opportunity to clear our heads and start fresh. I’m excited for the next few weeks. Our goal is to perform well for our fans and give them something to be proud of.”

Although plans have not been finalized, the tentative outlook for Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing suggests a return trip to Knoxville Raceway for the two-day World of Outlaws program on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13. More updates will be posted later in the week.
