PPMS Update: Had to pull the plug on practice this Sat as we just have not had the weather required to get ready…heck the pond is still frozen!
But, that’s sets us up to open with the biggest opening day in PPMS history…as the NDRL PENNational becomes the opener! It was already a big deal to have a second NDRL National event to join the Pittsburgher, but to open with it makes it a bigger deal…sometimes really neat events are created with circumstances like this! We sure hope Mother Nature cooperates as having the best late model racers in the country at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway opening day is real exciting! Personally, opening day at PPMS has always excited me, the smell of fuel and rubber and the lightening fast racers always seem faster on opening day when you have not seen them for awhile.
In addition to the 2 national NDRL Events, the NDRL Northeast will join us to honor two of my heroes at the Herb Scott & Red Miley Late model events.
We were really pleased with the partnership with the NDRL Team in 2013 and look for the Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway late model events to be elevated a few more notches this season. The 25th NDRL Pittsburgher was very good, we have a feeling the 26th NDRL Pittsburgher will be great!
We didn’t stop at enhancing just super late model racing for 2014…the RUSH Crates and the new Penn Oh Pro Stock Series will also make a few stops at the Monster Half Mile in 2014!
The inaugural $5,000 to win RUSH Steel City 100 SUNDAY June 8 will become our marquee RUSH Crate event!…but the Tri State RUSH Tour Sweeney Chevrolet 604 crate engine giveaway is no slouch either. Two great events for Crates made possible by another great partner, the folks on the RUSH Series Team! We just can’t wait to see how a 100 lap event unfolds on the Monster for the Crate cars, they are a great fit at our momentum multi groove facility. It has been a goal of Miley Motor Sports to hold a 100 lapper for the Crates and RUSH has made it a reality.
The Penn Oh Series joins us for the Ed Laboon 20 which has become the Daytona of Sportsman/Pro Stock racing in our area. A second date is in the works, TBA.
Add in Monster Trucks, the 410 winged and BOSS wingless Outlaw Sprints, the new RUSH Crate Mods, Vintage Mods, 3/4 late models, and our always exciting Hobby & Young Gun divisions and we feel we have the makings of a historical season at the Monster…certainly the best schedule we have ever applied to paper!…that’s just the racing…lots of fun promotions designed to excite veteran fans and attract new fans will add to the action!
