SPRINTS HEAD FOR ARIZONA FOR OCT. 26-27 CANYON RACES; STOCKON TAKES “HURTUBISE;” RAIN TAKES I-96

Dave Darland’s AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car lead stands at 23 points as the series heads west for its final four races.

Darland finished fifth in Friday’s “Jim Hurtubise Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track and leads Bryan Clauson and Jon Stanbrough in the latest tally going into the October 26-27 Parker Stores Hall of Fame events at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz.

Chase Stockon of Sullivan, Ind. captured the Terre Haute race and rains forced cancellation of Sunday’s series race at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich. Stockton led all 30 laps for his second consecutive series feature, followed by Robert Ballou, Jerry Coons Jr., Tracy Hines and Darland. Stockon piloted the Terre Haute First Financial Bank/Superior Tank & Trailer DRC/Fisher.

The Peoria race will precede the November 2-3 Budweiser “Oval Nationals” finales at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.
