Port Royal – If you’re a sprint car driver, you’ve got a reason. If you’re a sprint car fan, you’ve got a reason.
A reason to come to Saturday’s 2012 Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal Speedway, that is.
Impressive and up for grabs by drivers is nearly $53,000 in prize money alone. Plus, there’s another $7,000 worth of contingency prizes and cash to be taken home as well.
You do the math. That’s a pretty good reason.
Interesting and exciting for fans is an innovative and new format for the race that will produce exciting racing during what will essentially be four main events for the sprint cars.
There will be twin 16-lap semi features with full payouts posted before the 30-lap Dream A Main that carries a purse of nearly $34,000 alone, plus a B Main.
Sounds like reason enough but wait, there’s more.
A 25th starter will be added to the Dream A out of the B Main finishers who fail to qualify and all the fans will determine who gets the nod via a fan vote of cheers.
So don’t look for a reason to do anything else this Saturday when there’s plenty of reason to come to the 2012 Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal Speedway.
Port Royal is the only track in action with the 410 sprint cars this Saturday night.
Lynn Paxton and Al Hamilton will be honored as Living Legends this season and will take part in a pre-race autograph session along with Hamilton pilots Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease, Keith Kauffman and Aaron Ott. Fred Rahmer is also hoping to be on hand.
Paxton car owner Maynard Boop will be there as well.
Sponsors of the 2012 Dream Race are River Valley Builders, Selinsgrove; Brown’s Funeral Home, Mifflintown; and First National Bank of Mifflintown.
