Lone Star Sprint Nationals on the Horizon for ASCS

Bryan Hulbert – Tulsa, Oklahoma (October 5, 2012) Falling on the second week of October, the 2nd running of the Lone Star Sprint Car Nationals at Kilgore’s Lone Star Speedway will take place Thursday October 11th through Saturday October 13th.

With a purse totaling $120,000, the event will include the American Sprint Car Series as well as RACESAVER 305 Sprint Cars.

In the inaugural event it was Shane Stewart who, in a festival of slide jobs, held off the hard charging Jason Johnson to grab the $12,000 payday for the American Sprint Car Series and Kyle McCutcheon taking the $2,000 victory in the RACESAVER 305’s.

Upping the purse for 2012, this year’s event will see the ASCS Lone Star Sprint Car Champion rewarded with $13,000 with qualifying night winners awarded $2,000. Following suit, the RACESAVER 305’s will also see an increase in the winner’s share to $2,200 with qualifying night’s paying $500 to win.

This year’s Lone Star Sprint Car Nationals is the 50th, 51st, and 52nd dates on the ASCS National schedule. The Lone Star Sprint Car Nationals is a non-point special event for ASCS.

In the 17 events that have been held at the Lone Star Speedway with the American Sprint Car Series, 14 different drivers have victories. Gary Wright, Danny Wood, and Wayne Johnson are the only drivers with multiple victories with two each. Alan Payne, Daryn Pittman, Garry Lee Maier, Jason Johnson, Johnny Herrera, Larry Neighbors, Matt Covington, Michael Dupuy, Mike Ward, Shane Stewart, and Tim Crawley each have a single victory.

Admission for the Lone Star Sprint Car Nationals is $15 on October 11th and October 12th and $20 on October 13th. A three day Grandstand pass for $40 will be available at the gate on October 11th.
