Fremont/Attica Sprint Title Storms Back Into Action This Weekend in Northern Ohio

MAUMEE, OH (6-5-13) by Scott Porter – F.A.S.T. Public Relations

After mother nature washed out the chance of defending their home turf against the likes of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series last Friday night, drivers are ready to strap back into their 800+ horsepower machines and battle it out towards the $10,000 season ending prize for the champion of the Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Championship Series presented by KS Sales & Service. The Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) storms back into action this weekend with a pair of events at the two Northern Ohio speed plants for both the 410 and 305 Sprint Cars.

The weekend starts off with action at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 7th. With Attica promoter John Bores putting up $3,000 towards the Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. Series feature winner, a multitude of drivers will be invading the 1/3-mile clay oval at the Attica Fairgrounds to battle our locals. With numerous rain outs marring the 25th Anniversary season at the track it has been tough for teams to gather setup notes since moving back to Hoosier tires this off-season.

Current F.A.S.T. Kistler Cup points leader Craig Mintz has finished inside the top-5 three times and has been a factor every time a feature event has been pushed off at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant. His only trouble occurred during the non-points feature when broken front suspension parts ended another potential top-5 run.

FAST Series action returns to Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 8th. The last time the green flag dropped at Fremont, Bryan Sebetto picked up an All Star Circuit of Champions win on Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend while Craig Mintz and Caleb Griffith also finished in the Top 5. The following night, Mintz and Griffith had Top 5 finishes once again when the traveling series took on the tough Fremont Speedway locals for the second night in a row.

In the JLH General Contractors F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series, Nate Dussel has been one of the hottest drivers in the nation amongst the 305 sprint car ranks, yet the Bradner, Ohio native seems to struggle when valuable F.A.S.T. 305 Series points are on the line. Dussel shook that monkey off his back last month after capturing his first career F.A.S.T. 305 Series feature win at Fremont adding to his overall total of five wins in 2013.

The F.A.S.T. 305 Series looks to take their first green flag laps of competition at Attica this Friday night after being rained out on their previous two attempts. Currently JLH General Contractors F.A.S.T. 305 Series points leader John Ivy stands in the way of Dussel’s ultimate goal of winning the F.A.S.T. 305 crown and the $1,500 winner’s check.

With just two 305 events contested to date in 2013, the points are tight for the JLH General Contractors F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series. Ivy leads Dussel by a mere nine points and 60-markers separate first from tenth. Veteran Bobby Clark is in third ahead of young hot-shoe Jordan Ryan, while Dustin Dinan rounds out the top-five. Jimmy Colvin and Alvin Roepke are knocking on the door of the top-5, while Jason Keckler, Seth Schneider and T.J. Michael round out the top-10.

This Saturday the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place early in the afternoon. This year’s list of inductees includes the Liskai brothers of Al, Dick and Steve, Paul Dewald, Bill Hahn, Gordon Holbrook and Randy Ford. The mechanics are Sonny Conger and Mervin Keegan and the car owners are Larry Keegan and Don Eckhardt. The special service inductee is the late Phil Huss, otherwise known as “Smokey the Clown.” Gates open at 1:30 pm with the Hall of Fame Inductions starting at 2:30 pm.
